Judging Assets You Do Not Run

The company was an independent on the Norwegian continental shelf, a full-cycle business that explored, appraised and produced as a partner in licences other companies operated. Working with NRY, it built one place where every operator report, partner pack and licence document became a position it could actually question.

From Reading Reports to Holding a Position

A non-operating partner does not own the sensors. Production, cost, schedule and subsurface all arrive second-hand, in the operator's format, on the operator's timetable. The partner's analysts spent more time getting those inputs into shape than questioning them.

On Forge that work happened once. The company's own view of reserves, cost and timing sat beside what each operator reported, so the gap between the two was visible and could be argued from evidence rather than impression.

Evaluating a Development

Licence Position Dashboard

Every licence carried its own interest, partners, commitments and reporting rhythm. Modelling them together showed the company's real exposure across the portfolio rather than licence by licence.

Scenario Comparison in Forge

Screen capture of a scenario comparison dashboard

Before committing to a development phase, the team compared scenarios against one model: the capital profile, the schedule risk, and what the interest was worth under each.

From Licence to Portfolio

What began as a way to read one operator's reporting became how the company held its whole position: every farm-in, phase decision and divestment argued from the same set of numbers.
