Three months in, the question we hear most is whether NRY is still a consultancy. We were one. Here is what changed.
Advisory sells time. The deliverable is a document, and the document ages in a drawer. We now sell operations that run. The deliverable is the system in production, with the model of the operation behind it, and the people who built it still on site when it goes live.
The difference shows in the first builds. A wealth manager whose client file used to take days to put together now sees it in seconds, because the file is built from one model instead of twelve systems. A legacy stack that was going to migrate over the next decade is crossing to the cloud in weeks, one checked batch at a time.
We kept one habit from the advisory years: understanding the operation before touching it. That habit is now a thing we build. The model of the operation is not a discovery phase. It is the first piece of the build we deliver.
We dropped the rest. Retainers for presence. Workshops that end in a roadmap. The word recommendation. If we believe something should run, we build it and run it.
This also changed who we hire. We do not hire advisers. We hire builders who are willing to stand on a rig in February, and Fielders who can read a ward as well as a database.
The advisory business is behind us. The operations are ahead.
